A Place to Call Home

Finally! All of our paperwork has been signed and approved--we have a beautiful house to move into! It's quite a bit over our budget, but Stegen and I (and even Audrey) felt very much at home when we visited the property. We might need to buy cup 'o noodles in bulk or wear thick robes around the house (nobody turn the heater on!) for the next few years, but it's worth it.

It's not quite the quaint, Victorian terraced house that we thought we'd settle in, but it's lovely nonetheless. We have more space, it has a beautiful conservatory (something I really really wanted), and best of all, it's in the heart of Henley-on-Thames! Here are some photos of the house from the Savills estate agent website:

Stegen's going to have to learn how to use a lawnmower...I'll watch from the conservatory!

Aside from the excitement of finally having a place to call home, the kids and I took a walk into town and gawked at some of the beautiful food displays from street vendors on High Street. There's a guy who comes every Thursday (or Friday) all the way from Northern France to sell his vast array of cheeses and today, there was a man with such a beautiful spread of breads that I had to take a picture!

Other than our High Street venture early in the morning, the three of us just spent a lazy day at home (Dorian is sick again, poor baby) and had some FaceTime fun with Uncle Johann (we didn't get a picture), my dad (aka Gong Gong), and even Stegen's Gramma Doris.

Tomorrow is the big night for the Bonfire Celebrations, so we'll be heading out to the Maidenhead Football Club to watch some fireworks. Here's to hoping we don't get rained out!

  1. Sounds like you're starting to adjust.

Just out of curiosity, how many burpees have you done since arriving?

  2. Dangit, Ansel! You had to go and ask the hard question...well, if you really want to know, I've done a total of: ZERO. Maybe that's why my back's been hurting so much...I'm never warm!
